I want to thank my mentor Dr. Ines Hernandez-Avila for her generous heart, professional expertise, and unwavering support. I never would have even entered my Ph.D. program were it not for her encouragement.
Appreciation also goes out to Dr. Dean Rader and Dr. Justin Spence for being on my dissertation committee. Abrazos and poetry feelings to Sherwin Bitsui and Orlando White for giving me permission to write about their amazing poetics, and good thoughts to the spirit of Donna Mae Whitewing, who passed away in 2012 but whose work in the early 1960's at the Institute of American Indian Arts moved me profoundly.
I'm also grateful to my badass cohort, Christine M. Ami and Angel Hinzo, who will complete their doctorates within the next academic year.
One day I may write a long-ish blog post about "How I survived Graduate School Without Losing My Fucking Soul" but until then: hell yeah.
