After attending a release reading at Stanford University last month, which featured readings by awesome poets such as Tria Andrews and Jennifer Foerster and comments by Cherrie Moraga (!), I've been amazed with the sense of community and good will fostered by the As/Us project. It's humbling and inspiring. In their preface to Issue #2 of As/Us, Winder and Lopez write, "We hope that this space we have created continues to grow and more women’s voices are able to rise." I can feel the voices rising from all the four directions, and if you take the time to read through all of the beautiful works featured in journal, I hope you, too, will feel the collective power of those gathering voices.
My latest poem, "The Almost-Prayer," as well as the video-audio experiment accompanying it, can be found here:
I'm wishing the editors and all of the past, present, and future contributors of As/Us the best of luck in the coming days.
